The OTH-7000 is remotely operated through EXFO’s centralized Fiber Monitoring System (FMS), enabling automated fiber certification and monitoring via patented OTDR/iOLM technology. It can also integrate directly into third-party systems as a client API OTDR.

With its filtered 1650 nm OTDR port and compact test access module (up to 64 ports per ½ U rackmount), the unit supports in-service testing and monitoring of both P2P and PON networks. End-to-end PON fiber attenuation is measured at 1650 nm using a traceable method with a high-reflectance demarcation filter.

The OTH-7000 is offered in 1, 4, 16, 32, or 64-port configurations, with scalability to hundreds of ports through compact external optical switches (local or remote, up to 256 ports per ½ U). Its MEMS-based optical switch ensures long-term reliability, with fast switching and a 1-billion cycle lifetime—ideal for production testing, continuous monitoring, and PON certification.

The product family also includes the UBRD model, optimized for PON applications. With narrower laser filtering, it provides enhanced performance for PON networks and remains effective on live P2P links where the upper L-Band is used for traffic or supervisory signals.
